She united both worlds and brought Tejano music to the forefront. It was an emerging star who's tragic death threw it into turmoil. And as is common for a gifted, charming young performer dies too soon, many mourned the potential that she had yet to attain. To stop her successes from going unnoticed her many admirers over the past time have been inspired to go further. Her tragic murder by a shooter triggered an outpouring of emotion in Latino communities that is comparable to those who reacted to the death of Elvis Presley and John Lennon's. The most well-known Latino performer throughout North America, Selena's music has touched many lives throughout the world. Selena was a hot glamorous performer on stage and was often known as her as the Latina Madonna. In her off-stage life, Selena was also an excellent role model since she participated actively in antidrug and AIDS campaigns.
